Summary

World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 1 is a journey through an age of myth and legend, a time long before the Horde and the Alliance came to be。 This definitive tome of Warcraft history reveals untold stories about the birth of the cosmos, the rise of ancient empires, and the forces that shaped the world of Azeroth and its people。

This beautiful hardcover features twenty-five full-page paintings by World of Warcraft artist Peter Lee, as well as a cosmology chart, half a dozen maps charting changes through time, and other line art illustrations by Joseph Lacroix, and marks the first in a multipart series exploring the Warcraft universe; from the distant past to the modern era。

Revisit it frequently, the art is outstanding and the lore is exceptional。

I found the writing style to lack elegance。 More than that, it was confusing at times。 I know it's silly, but I could have used a lot more pictures。 Overall the lore is cool, but with a better roadmap and refined writing, the lore would shine more。 I found the writing style to lack elegance。 More than that, it was confusing at times。 I know it's silly, but I could have used a lot more pictures。 Overall the lore is cool, but with a better roadmap and refined writing, the lore would shine more。 。。。more

This volume covers everything from the origins and ordering of the Universe up to Medivh's birth (45 years before the Dark Portal)。 There are various interesting bits and pieces of information that might or might not be new to people, depending on their knowledge of Warcraft lore。 For me, it filled a huge gap in the origin of the story, while most things past the War of the Ancients I already knew from gameplay and the novels。 There were only a few pieces of information that are contradictory to This volume covers everything from the origins and ordering of the Universe up to Medivh's birth (45 years before the Dark Portal)。 There are various interesting bits and pieces of information that might or might not be new to people, depending on their knowledge of Warcraft lore。 For me, it filled a huge gap in the origin of the story, while most things past the War of the Ancients I already knew from gameplay and the novels。 There were only a few pieces of information that are contradictory to what's already been established, such as the nature of the relationship between Nielas and Aegwynn, but nothing too major。 On to volume II! 。。。more

My husband and I love Warcraft lore so we read this together。 It was really interesting getting a lot of the original lore of the Universe that we weren't as familiar with。 We both loved it! Playing World of Warcraft since The Burning Crusade expansion, I was interested in the lore。 It was impossible to know everything going on, in the game, without being in high end raiding, which I wasn't。 This book gave me a lot of the history in the lore of the game。 I am looking forward to the next Volume, to continue the story。 Playing World of Warcraft since The Burning Crusade expansion, I was interested in the lore。 It was impossible to know everything going on, in the game, without being in high end raiding, which I wasn't。 This book gave me a lot of the history in the lore of the game。 I am looking forward to the next Volume, to continue the story。 。。。more

Un libro/atlas con ilustraciones precioso。 Recuerda al Silmarillion dejando notar que hay influencias de Tolkien en este juego。 Es sin duda un regalo para la vista y ayuda a entender un lore tan inmenso desde sus orígenes。

Someone lent this one to me because I've never played the game, but I've followed its lore for the past 14 years, courtesy of my brother。 I'm not that big of a gamer, but boy do I love me some complicated lore。 The book does what it promises and in a quick and interesting manner。Could be easily made into a series of (very sad and bloody) children's book。Read the hardcover edition。 Tiny font and super uncomfortable。 But that's my bad, that book isn't' clearly meant to be read, but to show-off。 Wh Someone lent this one to me because I've never played the game, but I've followed its lore for the past 14 years, courtesy of my brother。 I'm not that big of a gamer, but boy do I love me some complicated lore。 The book does what it promises and in a quick and interesting manner。Could be easily made into a series of (very sad and bloody) children's book。Read the hardcover edition。 Tiny font and super uncomfortable。 But that's my bad, that book isn't' clearly meant to be read, but to show-off。 What I didn't like: we clearly could have had many more illustrations, Blizzard。 。。。more

I have played a lot of World of Warcraft, I started already as a child。 Here we meet exciting and entertaining stories from the world where the game takes place, Azeroth。 I like it!

World of Warcraft Chronicle Volume 1 is really good book if you are already fan of the Warcraft universe。 It answers a lot of questions on how the universe was created and who are the moving actors of the whole saga。 It lays the foundations of what is to come。I must admit that at some point there are a lot of "extra" information that is kind of boring, but i guess thats the cost of having a detailed introduction to the world。 World of Warcraft Chronicle Volume 1 is really good book if you are already fan of the Warcraft universe。 It answers a lot of questions on how the universe was created and who are the moving actors of the whole saga。 It lays the foundations of what is to come。I must admit that at some point there are a lot of "extra" information that is kind of boring, but i guess thats the cost of having a detailed introduction to the world。 。。。more

I'm a big fan of the WoW lore and so I've set out to start reading the books too。 Naturally, I've started with the first volume of the Chronicles。 Even though I've played all quests in WoW, there was always some info missing to make sense of the importance of certain cities, structures or relationships between the races。 I found a lot of things which helped me connect the dots in my head that I've had from playing through the game。 Additionally, the art found in the book is amazing。 But more tha I'm a big fan of the WoW lore and so I've set out to start reading the books too。 Naturally, I've started with the first volume of the Chronicles。 Even though I've played all quests in WoW, there was always some info missing to make sense of the importance of certain cities, structures or relationships between the races。 I found a lot of things which helped me connect the dots in my head that I've had from playing through the game。 Additionally, the art found in the book is amazing。 But more than anything, it amazes me how the writers managed to create and tie the whole story, from the birth of the universe to the appearance of life in the universe, including Azeroth, then to the evolution of so many races, which have a history instead of just races popping out of nowhere, then managing to transpose elements of humanity's own historical evolution into the world of Azeroth (troll wars, gnoll wars, the elf empires, the gods, the dimensions)。 It's amazing how they managed to create logical explanations (in the limits or boundaries of WoW's science fiction universe) for the way in which things came to be currently in WoW。 A must read for any fan :) 。。。more

Playing the game, I always wanted to know the history of the characters, history of the places。This book, starts off from the creation of the universe, of the light and the void, of the Titans and the Void lords。A wonderful read。 There are places and characters I could connect too, seeing them in the game and doing the scenarios。 but there are few which I didnt know at all。 The illustrations are very nice。A must read for people who want to know the history of the WoW。

The art was gorgeous, I just feel like all the information, as informative and interesting as some of it was, was so dense。 Some of it was also, though I appreciate Blizzard's attention to detail, very pointless to mention。I will say, finding the many norse connections made me happy and I feel sympathy for some characters I never felt sympathy for before。A good, worthwhile read I'm sure - it just may have felt a bit boring at the time。Definitely not a re-reader for me。 The art was gorgeous, I just feel like all the information, as informative and interesting as some of it was, was so dense。 Some of it was also, though I appreciate Blizzard's attention to detail, very pointless to mention。I will say, finding the many norse connections made me happy and I feel sympathy for some characters I never felt sympathy for before。A good, worthwhile read I'm sure - it just may have felt a bit boring at the time。Definitely not a re-reader for me。 。。。more

From the beginning of time up to the opening of the Dark Portal, this archive primarily focuses on the foundation of WoW and the events that led the orca to invade Azeroth, kicking off the Alliance unification and the forthcoming wars。 Interesting if you’re looking for more context to the events of the game。 Big, beautiful images included are a nice bonus。

Warcraft lore is so good, this book explains the start of it all。

honestly a really incredible effort to clean up all the scattered and often bad Warcraft lore and turn it into a cohesive narrative。 lots of stuff that seemed bad and weird before totally cleaned up and functional now。 this is the Silmarillion for Warcraft and it rules。 if you don't like fictional history/myth narratives then maybe it's not for you。 honestly I think this would appeal to even some fantasy fans who aren't familiar with Warcraft, though following the names would be hard, especially honestly a really incredible effort to clean up all the scattered and often bad Warcraft lore and turn it into a cohesive narrative。 lots of stuff that seemed bad and weird before totally cleaned up and functional now。 this is the Silmarillion for Warcraft and it rules。 if you don't like fictional history/myth narratives then maybe it's not for you。 honestly I think this would appeal to even some fantasy fans who aren't familiar with Warcraft, though following the names would be hard, especially all the stupid races considering there aren't generally pics of them。 the full art that does exist is incredible though。 starting part 2 immediately。 。。。more

There is so much history and lore in WoW and it’s so easy to go through the game not knowing any of it。 This first book gives a lot of background into the two most recent expansions, Legion and BFA, since it talks at length about the titans, burning legion, old gods, and the Zandalari Trolls。 It does a decent job of covering the history of Azeroth from creation up until the dark portal。 It does jump around a lot, since there is a ton going on (it is a whole planet after all), but the timestamps There is so much history and lore in WoW and it’s so easy to go through the game not knowing any of it。 This first book gives a lot of background into the two most recent expansions, Legion and BFA, since it talks at length about the titans, burning legion, old gods, and the Zandalari Trolls。 It does a decent job of covering the history of Azeroth from creation up until the dark portal。 It does jump around a lot, since there is a ton going on (it is a whole planet after all), but the timestamps keep it together and easy to follow。 。。。more

Will I ever not be WoW trash? Possibly not。 This book gives answers to questions never answered in the actual game, and while technical and 'textbook' sounding at times, breathes new life into the history of something so wide spread and loved。 Will I ever not be WoW trash?
